She focuses on your work, experience, skills, goals and personality to help you establish effective strategies suited to you as an artist and individual.
Private consultations can include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing career goals with a plan of action and timeline
- Audience identification and development
- Art marketing
- Evaluation and development of marketing materials
- Exhibition refinement and preparation
- Studio visit preparation
Before booking a consultation, you’ll have a brief, introductory phone conversation with McLean to discuss your needs and desired outcomes. Prior to meeting, artists are asked to do some “homework” so that we will make the most of our time together.

“McLean has a tremendous talent for getting to the point and helping me see myself in a way that expands my work and my perspective as a professional artist. My sessions with her have been valuable for their practicality, honesty, support and generosity. I am always eager to share with her, which invariably results in pushing myself further with new ideas and enthusiasm.” – B. Mehta, San Diego, CA
“Working with McLean has helped me present myself and my work in a professional manner, find opportunities to show my work, and refine my work to fit into the contemporary art world. She is a supportive, no-nonsense coach and mentor who made me laugh while I learned how to be a better art professional. She inspired me to take chances. And she was there when I succeeded. I wholeheartedly recommend McLean to any artist who wants to thrive in today’s art world.” – D. Dodge, Los Angeles, CA
“The work with McLean brought in attention from a well-known curator, a museum residency, a meeting with a reputable gallerist and an ArtSlant award. As well, she reviewed and gave great critical feedback on my website. I can easily say that the six meetings were completely worth it, filled with humor and good ideas and I would recommend her as a career consultant.” – E.D. San Francisco, CA
